Disclosure: This is a compensated campaign in collaboration with Vi and Va Dolls and Latina Bloggers Connect.
Nowadays kids are always with a gadget in their hands. If it’s not the phone it’s the tablet so when I see my daughters playing with toys it makes me happy. Maybe I am old-schooled but I like the traditional ways of playing and find that a balance between hands-on playing and technology is key.
This is why I always jump at any opportunity to have my girls play with actual toys and was more than thrilled to participate in the Vi and Va Dolls campaign. All I have to say is that when the dolls arrived Gaby saw the box and immediately asked who the package was for. When I said they were dolls for her it was like Christmas Day all over again!
I asked Gaby to pick one just to see what doll she would lean toward and she chose Va, the hair stylist, which did not surprise me at all since she loves anything to do with hair and makeup.
Vi and Va is a new line of Latina fashion dolls from MGA Entertainment. Viviana (Vi) and Valentina (Va) are sisters, and best friends with their cousins, Felicia and Roxxi.
Vi, 16, is spontaneous and easy going. She’s passionate about sharing her love of music, and she’s always ready to break out her guitar at family gatherings.
Va, 15, is so neat and organized. She loves learning to cook from her mother and grandmothers. She also loves trying out new hairstyles, and making herself look unique with ribbons and flowers in her hair.
Felicia and Roxxi are Vi and Va’s cousins. Felicia is 17 years old and an artist. Roxxi is 18 years old and a dancer.
I like the concept behind these dolls. I love that they are Latinas and that there is a family and friendship story behind them. Gaby loved to hear that they were cousins and thought that it was pretty cool – in her own words J.
It also makes me happy to see more diversity in the toy industry and more options than the typical blonde, blue-eyed, tanned and skinny Barbie. It gives kids a wider perspective and helps them to realize that different is good. It helps to nourish self-acceptance and self-love by having them see a representation of who they are and their heritage.
The product line includes several dolls and activity sets to help little girls play out each character’s storyline and enjoy her special talents. The line also has a birthday party collection, where the family celebrates Vi turning 16 and Va turning 15 with a combined party.
We are also giving one away right here on the blog! Enter the giveaway below and you could win the the Vi and Va Hair Stylist Doll Valentina.
