I feel that 2016 was a transition year for me, a bridge connecting 2015 when I made some important career and personal decisions and launched Twin Minds Media with friend and business partner Claudia Solis, to 2017 when I hope to expand TMM, launch a new project and revamp this blog with a new identity [still in the works].
Instead of new year resolutions, I typically keep a tally of accomplishments from the previous year and goals to be achieved in the new year – most of them tangible/realistic things like put the girls in dancing classes, or increase my profits by a certain percentage, and so on. I literally keep this list right on my phone’s Notes that way I can take a look at it at any point throughout the year.
Another ritual that I started a few years back is choosing a word to guide my year. I’ve decided that COURAGE is my word for 2017.
Courage because I feel like I will need it this year. I presume 2017 will be a year of change, risks, and of putting it all on the line.
I want to have the courage to go for the things that scare me the most, to look fear right in the eye and use it to propel me to do that which I’ve wanted to do for the longest time.
I want to have the courage to continue giving myself the gift of education, self-empowerment, and dream-building without dwelling in the paralyzing guilt that all of us moms feel when we are dedicating time to ourselves.
Most importantly, I want to have the courage to let go when it’s time to let go. Let go of the people that are no longer welcomed in my life, let go of past experiences, and let go of some of the ideas/projects that have been roaming in my head for the longest time and are actually not doable, unless we had 36-hour days. It’s time to laser focus and work smarter.
What about you? Do you have a word for 2017 or any goals you’d like to achieve?
Hope this new year brings prosperity, love and peace to your life!
